Before we start teaching any student we must first apply kindness and understanding, usually when the child requires tuition he is already very demoralized about his grades and finds it hard to understand conventional methods of learning . Usually teachers in school have no time to wait for students or cater to their particular style of learning needs. parents try to help and usually end up losing their temper. This makes the student switch off and after awhile, whatever the teacher or parent says is only static. So number one , the first step is to build a rapport and get the student’s trust . Don’t talk down to the student. make him feel you really care and that teaching him or her is worthwhile and not a chore.

When teaching children, use metaphors and description that are familiar to children. Use words and scenarios that the child is used to. Basically teaching children must be child like. Use familiar characters in your teaching like sports or even cartoon characters, this will make the child more interested in the lesson. Make the lesson fun. speak in lively tones.
